Hiya guys

First i just thought i'd join you lot and say Hi. I recently started playing Guild wars and love it - previous RPG experiance was Diablo and i got bored of that pretty damn fast lol.

Anyways i have a random noob question that i cant seem to find the answer to in previous threads or on any of the help menu's. I was given the game Guild Wars by a friend of mine. It says Guild Wars on the box and on the cd inside, it says Guild Wars Factions. When i logged onto play the game and create my character, the option available to me was Prophecies, and factions and nightfall were darkened squares on the screen that were unavailable. I'm confused. I got the impression that Nightfalls was an expansion pack due out later this year. How do i get access to Factions? Is this something that happens when i reach a certain level in the game? Do i have to buy an expansion pack? Its all getting a little confusing...! hehe

any help would be great!!
Cheers

Factions and Nightfall are stand alones. I could buy a copy of factions and make a new account only having access to factions content. You need to merge your prophecies account with a factions key to be able to access the content.

And FYI your a newbie. Noob is a derogatory.

Hmmm. That's rather confusing. If it says Factions, it ought to be Factions, but what you have is Prophecies...
Regardless, Factions and Nightfall are seperate stand-alone games. They do combine with Prophecies LIKE an expansion, but you don't need Prophecies to play them.

Why you have Prophecies when it says Factions is a little confusing, though. O_o;

Anyhow. Enjoy Prophecies. ^___^

Prophocies is the original Guild Wars, Factions is the current expansion, & Nightfall is the expansion that will be out later this year, to play Factions you must purchase the expansion

Also, a Factions key would be the CD Key from a copy of Guild Wars: Factions.
As for why it says Factions at the login screen, that's 'cause Factions is the 'current' chapter, or something along those lines. I don't own Factions, but it says Factions on the top for me, too. ^_^;

And again, Factions is a standalone, not an expansion. >_<

Yes. To play Factions, you have to buy Factions. If you buy it and want to add it to your Prophecies account, when you install it you'll be given the option to merge it with your existing account or not. If you merge the 2, you'll get an additional 2 character slots (for a total of 6). all of your characters will then be able to travel back and forth between the two continents once they reach certian points in the game. (Both fairly early on)

If you make them seperate accounts, you'll have 4 character slots on each account (for a total of 8), BUT you will not be able to take characters from one continent to the other. And the only way you'll be able to shift weapons and materials from one account to the other is if you find someone with a linked account that you can trust to ferry those items from one to the other.
